My New Favorite Blog

Today Sophie went down for her nap at 1:30. It wasn't much of a battle, she actually fell asleep while we were still reading books. I plopped her down in her crib and came to spend 30 to 60 minutes of "me time." Her sleep has been so messed up lately, I never know what to expect with her.

I started off by checking my email, and other various things on the internet... 2:30 rolled around and I ran out of things to check. So I started looking for mommy blogs to read. I found one and absolutely LOVE it! Its called "The Meanest Mom." This woman is a stay at home of 4 young kids, and she just cracks me up.

I glanced at the clock and it read 3:45, I thought I had lost my mind. Sophie has NEVER slept this long. At 4:00 I decided that she was either dead, or it was just a miracle. Just to rule out the first option, I went in to check on her. I made sure her little body was breathing, and tried to creep out of the room ninja style.... it didn't work. Right when I got to the door I heard those little grunts that mean only one thing - a waking child.

Well at least she slept for 2 1/2 hours, which was something she really needed. Now she has wondered off to sit on the couch with Isaak, and eat grapes while she watches him play video games. I just don't know what I'll do when we move, and she won't have all these people around to interact with.

Yay Crafts!

So I found this cute little project while going through the links on Tasha's blog. I decided I wanted to make some letters for Sophie's room. It was actually pretty easy. I was determined to get it all done on Saturday... so as you can imagine there was a lot of daddy and Sophie time. I just wanted to post the finished letters. I love them! I think I'll have to go make more, just for the heck of it. It was fun.

Sophie's Box

We have a little box in our room, and toss Sophie's toys in there each night. She often brings toys from her room into ours. Just last night she decided that the toys belong on the floor, and she belonged in the box. While I was posting the last blog, she climbed in again with a book. I couldn't resist snapping a few pictures. :)

Daddy's Little Girl

(sorry if you are getting this email twice, I accidentally posted it before I even typed anything)

Sophie was always a mommy's girl. From the day she was born, she would choose me over anyone, even daddy. The tables have turned! Now that she is stuck with me all day every day, she gets super excited whenever any of the men come home. I guess I'm boring. :)

She will squirm out of my arms just to walk over, pull on Denny's pants, and say "up up up." I love it, do you know why? Finally after almost 15 months of NEVER having 5 minutes to myself, I can actually relax. She will sit with Denny and not scream for me to get her. Pure bliss.

In these pictures, Denny sat on our window seat to eat some peanuts. Sophie made her way up on his lap and decided she wanted some too. It is the cutest thing watching them together.

Just the other night Denny stripped Sophie down, to get ready for her bath. I was cleaning the bathroom and getting the water going. The next thing I hear is a loud squeal and giggles. Sophie went running by the bathroom door in just her diaper, followed by Denny on all fours growling after her. I love my dorks. :)

Dora Books

The other day we went to Barnes & Noble, we could spend hours in there. I think it is just stupid how much little kid books cost. They have like 30 words tops, and are still $8. I found little box sets of 4 books for just $10. Hurray! I got her the Dora ones. Anyways.

She wanted my attention while I was cleaning earlier, but I was determined to get it all done. Eventually she got bored of me and went off to do her own thing. I didn't hear her making her usual noises for a good while, so I went to check on her. I found her sitting on the floor in her room, "reading" her Dora books. Such a silly little girl. I'm so glad she likes books. Every night we read stories before bedtime. She knows to get her blankie, then grab a book, and go sit in either mine or Denny's lap.

I left her to her reading and went back into my room. She came waddling in with 3 books and set them down by her chair. Then gave me a kiss. I'm finally getting kisses again. For a few months she REFUSED to give kisses to anyone. Now she gives them to everyone. :) She even woke me up this morning by plopping a big wet one right on my nose.

I Must Be Crazy

Sophie's sleep has been all kinds of messed up since we got home from my mom's. Stupid daylight savings time. I FINALLY got her to sleep at 9 pm about 5 days ago. It worked for two days, then on the third we got home late, and all that work was thrown out the window. Now she is back to staying up until around 11 and it is horrible. The past three days I have been so stressed at the end of the day that I just start crying and give up all together.

Last night she gave me a bit of a break. Once I finally got her to sleep around 11:00, I went to sleep. She generally wakes up 2 or 3 times a night. It rolled around to 5:00 am, and I got worried because she hadn't woken up yet. (plus she fell off the bed before we went to sleep and landed on her head, so I was worried to begin with) So I had to make sure she was still breathing, then went back to bed myself. She only woke up once all night, and it was delightful.

Sometimes I just think I'm completely nuts to want another kid. Especially since once I have another kid, I will be outnumbered. Hopefully next year life with be just that much easier. Then we can start playing with the idea of baby number two.

The Park

This was by far my favorite picture of today. I just love the way it looks. (And the adorable jacket is from Grandma Tina. )
Sophie decided she was going to climb up the slide, rather than go around and climb the stairs. That didn't really work out for her.
Then I caught this funky face because I snapped a picture while she was saying "wow."

Picasa is being a pain in my butt, and that is the program I use to load all of the pictures onto the side of my blog. So I'll try to get those up by tomorrow. :)

SPRING

Oh, how I love Spring. Everything goes from being cold and dead, to so warm, colorful, and alive. My overall mood is better now that I can spend time in the sun, and not freeze to death. Sophie loves that we get to go outside as well, she is standing at the front door with her face pressed against the window. I took her to the park yesterday, and she absolutely loved it.

There were oodles of kids there, since it was the first warm day in a long time. For the most part she just followed the other kids around, and even held hands with one little girl and walked around the park. I thought it was so cute, I wish I would have had my camera.

We went down the slides, and she giggled the entire time. I put her in one of the swings and she had the biggest grin on her face, then she started to relax and nearly fell asleep while I pushed her. :) Silly girl. She is also a big fan of bubbles. She will run after then for hours. I'll be sure to take my camera when we go to the park today!

Back To My Roots!

I'm just starting to realize how much I really miss church. I grew up going to church every week with my family, and loved it. Sure, I became a teenager and decided I wasn't going to be forced to do anything, but everyone does that. Then after having Sophie, it has become a war just trying to get both her and Denny ready to go. After months of it, I gave up. I want Sophie to grow up in the church, I want her to go to Primary and learn all the silly songs, I want to go make friends there... but I just feel kind of stupid going now.

I know people talk, and my family isn't really "picture perfect." Denny is supportive, and tells me that he has no problem with me going, I can even drag him along every now and again. I just hate going by myself. Then on top of sitting by myself, I have a very active little girl, who REFUSES to sit still more than 5 minutes.

All in all, I'm going to try. After all, I am the mommy, and its my job to make sure we all get to Heaven in one piece. :)

Daisy

Nearly 2 and a half years ago I met Denny. He took me to his house, I saw Daisy, and fell in love. I told him that one day she would be mine. The day has come! :) Denny's mother gave us little Daisy, and Sophie loves her to pieces. She has a very sweet and loving personality. Denny doesn't exactly "love" her, but nothing would have kept me from taking her. :P So he puts up with her. The best part, she will forever be this tiny!

Home Sweet Home

Yesterday our flight was leaving at 4:30, we nearly missed it, but I made the plane with just minutes to spare. :) Its good I made it too, otherwise I would have had to wait until 6 for the next flight, then change in Vegas, and wouldn't have landed in SLC until 12:30 am. Call me crazy, but I don't feel like being in an airport, with my rather active little toddler, for over 6 hours.

We made it home fine. We had a blast out at my mom's, and plan on visiting her sometime this summer. Just wanted to let you all know we made it home okay.

Brrrr

Here you can see the Lake Tahoe and the mountains behind me and Sophie... well kinda, the trees are in the way. This is outside the pirate store, I found it last time I was out here, and get something for Denny each time I come out here. You have no idea how freaking cold it was. I wore the little jacket because it was warm when we first went from the apartment to the car, which was like 15 seconds outside. Taking pictures was a few minutes and I nearly froze to death. Stupid cold mountains. At least we got pictures. :)

My Mommy!

My cousin Mimi recently had her little girl Dalia. She is so tiny and dark and just adorable. Holding her made me want another baby... until... Sophie decided to reclaim her mommy. Each time I would hold Dalia, Sophie would make her wake over and climb up on the couch to sit on my lap. Once I would hand Dalia off to someone else, Sophie would climb down and go back to playing. I guess she shares everything, but her mommy. :)

More Videos!

I just can't get over how silly Sophie is when she dances. The best part is that we never taught her, she just started doing it all on her own. She has some Macias in her after all. :P

Dancing Once More!

My mom is nice enough to let us sleep in her bed, so she has an air mattress in the living room. We let out the air so that it isn't in the way during the day. Sophie noticed it this morning and decided it looked like a fun new toy.

Uh Oh

Little miss found out how to take the caps off of markers... all thanks to her wonderful daddy. All it took was one time, she saw him take it off, and a lightbulb clicked in her head. She found a highlighter today and went to town on her hand. Once I noticed, I figured I might as well grab the camera.

Videos of Tahoe

Sophie LOVES to dance! In the car, songs on the tv, the radio, you name is and she'll dance to it. She even dances when Denny just makes a random beat. She was dancing to music and I walked in the room just in time to catch a few seconds of it. Then she fell over and got mad. :P

(the stupid youtube won't let me add the video, so here is the link)
Dancing

I was in the bedroom watching Desperate Housewifes... and I liked it! Sophie came in the room saying "oh no, oh no, oh no." So I got up to come into the living room with her. She pointed to the pile of DVDs on the floor, and said "oh no!" The little turd pulled out all the DVDs. I knew she would do it again so I put them all back in and grabbed the camera. :)

"Oh No!"

Tahoe :)

Well we made it here in one piece, well two pieces. :) Sophie fell asleep right when we took off, and woke up as we were landing... pure bliss. She has had a blast being around all the new people.
Here she is wearing Grandma Taly's slippers.
Here is the BEGINING of the storm... we have two feet already, and its still going. Manuel had to litterally dig a path out for the car.
Here is Sophie playing in all of the hangers.
And here she is playing with little Diego
I got a few videos as well, I'll post them once they finish uploading. Its wonderful out here. We get really good sleep, and my skin is as soft as a baby's bottom. If it weren't for all the freaking snow, I would totally live on top of a mountain. :P
