The Many Faces Of Sophie

The joys of temper tantrums have been brought upon us these past few months. In the picture above, Sophie didn't get her way. She then laid on the floor in the bathroom and refused to move. So being the awesome parent I am, I left her there and returned with a camera. :)
Sophie was getting her lego on. (much to daddy's dismay) There is a video of it at the bottom of the page.
Denny had a pair of headphones on the floor in our room; Sophie found them, and claimed them. She was walking around with them on her head all morning. I wish I would have gotten a picture when she had them up on her cheeks instead of her ears.
The food that was squished and rubbed on every inch of her body was beeforoni. Obviously, I was insane when I assumed that she would actually eat the food. The moment I looked at her, I broke out laughing. She was orange all over, and reminded me of an Oompa Loompa.

I'm Back

I haven't posted for the past while... because I was sucked into a wonderful world of books. I heart books. I finally decided to start reading the Twilight book, that has just been sitting on my night stand. Within minutes I was completely pulled in. I read the 1st book in 2 days, bought the 2nd book and finished it in 1 day, then went to get the last 2 books, and those took 2 days each. (told you I was addicted)

Denny found all of this rather amusing. One of the first nights of my reading craze, he took the book from me so we could get something to eat. Instantly I gave him the look of death and squealed "no!"... I should have known that would only fuel his cruel sense of humor. He snapped the book shut before I could see what page I was on, and I plopped on the couch with a pout. He did this several times throughout the week. Evil man.

Besides being a book stealing jerk, Denny embraced my craziness. Me + books = Denny + laptop. Nothing makes that man happier than his stinkin laptop, without me showering him with my hate for it. I wouldn't be surprised if he dragged me to the bookstore to load me up. :P

The reason for this post is to update you on the past week.

Last Thursday we had tickets to see Dane Cook. Of course, I bought the cheapest tickets, and was prepared to sit in those horrible seats. Once our tickets were scanned, we were told that we were to be "relocated." I assumed that meant even worse seats. To my surprise we were moved to the floor, just 10 feet from the stage. With only two rows in front of us, I nearly peed my pants from happiness. The show was awesome.

We took Sophie swimming, which has never really been a fun experience. She has always been more scared of the water, than actually excited. This time she LOVED it! She was laughing and screaming with joy. The simple fact that she likes swimming now, will make this summer a lot more fun.

I don't think anything else too exciting happened this past while. Sophie is finally back to a sleep schedule. (she hasn't been cooperative since we moved) Sophie also learned the word "owie" but doesn't really know what it means. She says it more when she wants something. We went to WalMart the other day and she went trotting down an aisle singing "owie owie owie." I picked her up and walked away from the strangers giving me looks like I beat my child. That word will deffinately make more awkward moments.

The Zoo

My mom came out to visit this weekend. Everyone loves when she comes out here. We decided to go to the zoo on Sunday morning. I originally planned on leaving around 9... we didn't wake up until 8:45. We eventually made our way to the zoo around 11:30.
Sophie was most interested in all the monkeys. This was a mommy and a baby monkey. The mother was holding the baby to her while it slept, I thought it was super cute. That is how Sophie falls asleep with me at bedtime. She spent a good deal of the day pointing to animals and saying "Wow!" I loved seeing her reactions to everything. And she did pretty darn good considering she only took a catnap.
This elephant was 18 months pregnant... 18 months! They are generally pregnant about 22 - 24 months... I would die. Poor elephant.
Even though Denny protested the zoo trip, we all had a good time. We spend about 5 hours there, and didn't even see everything. Sadly my camera wasn't charged, so it only lasted about 1 hour into the day. Next time I'll be sure to take OODLES of pictures.

Two Whole Years <3

Its official... I've been married to my pain-in-the-ass for two whole years. :) I wouldn't have it any other way. While he drives me absolutely insane (about every other day), I love him. I stole this question list from Tasha's blog. :)

1. Where did you meet your husband?
MySpace, I kid you not. He wasn't a complete stranger, our friends were friends. We officially "met" at the Ogden mall. We went to see a movie (I bet he doesn't remember what one) and I was hooked. :)

2. How long did you date before you got married?
7 months

3. How long have you been married?
2 years :D

4. What does he do that surprises you?
Whenever he runs out to the store by himself, he always grabs something small for me. Scrapbooking stickers, my favorite candy, flowers... it always makes me smile.

5. What is your favorite feature of his?
His eyes. I LOVE dark hair with bright eyes.

6. What is your favorite quality?
His sarcastic sense of humor. He can bug the hell out of me with it, but it always makes me laugh.

7. What does he do that makes you smile?
Plays with Sophie. I love watching the two of them. To me, nothing is cuter than the love between a daddy and his little girl.

8. What does he do that drives you crazy?
What doesn't he do? Seriously. He is the kind of person that will poke you over and over, just to get a reaction. (he often gets whacked because of this)

9. Does he have a nickname for you?
I've been called various strange names. Snugglebunny, starshine, and so on. Generally he just calls me "hun."

10. What is his favorite food?
Meat, he is a freakin carnivor.

11. What is his favorite sport?
Bowling, and yes he will argue that bowling is a sport.

12. When and where did you first kiss?
The end of our first date. He walked me to the door, we said goodnight, and there was a quick smootch. I still don't remember who really kissed who.

13. What is your favorite thing to do as a couple?
Just be together. Once Sophie goes to bed, we plop on the couch and do our own things. Its just nice being by each other. Before Sophie was born, we would both lay in bed and read our own books for hours.

14. Do you have children?
We do we do, our beautiful little Sophie. She has so much of his personality, and he loves it. Sometimes I think I have two children, a 16 month old and a 5 year old (Denny).

15. Does he have any hidden talents?
Herm... hidden, not so much. He does know random facts about EVERYTHING though, and I mean everything.

16. How old is he?
About 5... but his lisence says hes 21. :)

17. Who said I love you first?
He did.

18. What is his favorite music?
Loud obnoxious music, but he puts up with my girly music, so we balance out.

19. What do you admire most about him?
He is honest with me. Even when others tell him to keep certain details to himself, he knows better than that. A relationship can't function if both people aren't open. I love him that much more because of this.

20. What is his favorite color?
Darker green and black.

21. Will he read this?
Mmhmm, all of my posts get emailed to him.

And now you know more about that stressful man that is my husband. :)

I love you, and plan on keeping your around for a few more years. :)

Poor Baby :(

Our apartment is still full of sick people. Denny caught whatever Sophie caught, and I have had my sinuses stuffed up as could be. It isn't very fun at all.

Last night, I laid Sophie down to sleep. She got all comfy and was slowly drifting off, when she started coughing up snot. (I hate that feeling.. as did she) She threw up a giant loogy. I picked her up and shouted to Denny for assistance. The next round of coughing started, so I booked it to the bathroom sink. She threw up again. After she emptied out her insides, she looked down at the sink and said "oh no."

As he changed her crib sheets, I heard Denny giggle from her bedroom. She had nasty gooey puke/snot all over her arms and hands. She does NOT like being dirty. She held out her hands to me, so that I could wipe her off. She let out a few more "oh no" and "oh my"s. I felt so bad for the little thing.

She went back to sleep easily. The only good thing that may come from this, is a speed up of the weaning process. Since she can't breath through her nose, she doesn't want to nurse at bedtime. She doesn't even want her binky.

Hopefully it all passes soon. Being sick sucks.

Mother's Day

I am addicted to a site called CafeMom.com. This is like a MySpace, or Facebook, just for moms. You have your own page to post pictures, journals, and whatnots. There are also OODLES of groups to join, and post random things.

Yesterday I logged in to check my mail. I couldn't help but notice the HUNDREDS of posts women put up about how they had a "horrible" mother's day. These people were ridiculous. One woman was acutally complaining that her husband bought her flowers and chocolate... I LOVE flowers and chocolate! Some women could probably get a brand new house, and still not be happy.

While Denny and Sophie were both sick and miserable, I still had a nice mother's day. I got to spend it with the two people I love the most. We are all healthy, for the most part :0), we have everything we need- and then some. It's sad that some people can't just be happy knowing that their family loves them.

I hope all you mamas out there had a great mother's day, and didn't spend it with your panties in a twist. :)

FYI- My dear friend Mariza had her 2nd chlid yesterday morning. Ethan is nice and healthy, with "giant huevos", according to his father. I can't wait to see the little squirt. He was 6 lbs 9 oz... and she did all natural! What a trooper. I think I might kill Denny if I try natural child birth, perhaps we will give it a go next time around.

The Ren Faire

My poor little Sophie caught a cold from Toby. She has been absolutely MISERABLE the past 3 days. She only slept 4 hours the last two nights, she is congested as can be, and she hates it. I decided we would still hit up the Renaissance Faire. I was prepared for the worst, but my little trooper pulled through. The above picture was taken on the ride home; she was falling asleep with the water bottle in her mouth. Last year Denny was super bummed when he didn't get a turkey leg. So this year, that was the first thing on our list. As you can see, he loved it. Isaak got one too.(and yes he is dressed as a pirate)
We had a blast. Denny bought a $60 giant hammer... (he got it for $50 because the man liked his shirt) I got a cute parasol, and Sophie picked herself out a bracelet. We had some yummy food, and watched the jousting. This will definitely be a yearly event for our family. :)

Sophie & Toby

Our friend Mary had to go from working at home, to going into work. Poor Mary. :( Since she had to go in, she needed someone to watch her son Toby. We were more than happy to take the little bugger. Sophie rarely gets to be around kids at all, let alone someone just two weeks older than her. It makes me sad sometimes, but soon enough all the kids in the apartment will be coming out to our pool... then I will hunt for some playmates. :)

It was just cute watching the two of them interact. When Richard came to pick Toby up, Sophie protested. They were heading out the door and she gave a grunt of disapproval. The silly girl. There should be two movies popping up in the video bar, at the bottom of the page. The first is of the two riding the little car, and the second one is of Toby fighting sleep... and not winning. :P That one I took just for Mary.

People = Stress

I've decided that people drive me nuts.

Whether it's a friend borrowing $20 from me to "feed her baby", then avoid me at all costs for over a month...

Sophie's small dog (and only friend) being repossessed by a family member...

Or a good friend of my husband's - telling him that he needs to divorce me...

It is all just stupid, and I'm done wasting my energy caring about stuff like this. I've been trying to be a more positive person, but I suppose the world wants to test me. So be it.

My solutions for the above issues -

Screw the friend. She causes more drama than she is worth. So long Tasia.

While ridiculous, I can deal with this. I am just going to bring my dog to the apartment. Quimby will be Sophie's new dog. The best part- no one can randomly decide "it would be best" if we didn't have him.

If I ever see this stupid man again, he sure as hell is going to get a piece of my mind. Otherwise, he isn't worth the effort. I'll be damned if I let some trailer trash loser ruin my day.

On a lighter note. We went to Fat Cat's today, and had a blast. Sophie liked all the colorful lights, and the ski ball game. Today was a rather nice day. Now all that is left to do is sit back and enjoy the evening with my family... and do laundry- but that can wait. :)
