New Years

Ya ya... I'm like a month late, deal with it.
  1. What were your New Years plans?
Nothing, I was pooped. Sophie and I fell asleep on the couch around 11:30.

  2. What was great about this past year?
Denny got baptized, Sophie weaned and learned to sleep through the night, and I fell in love with my Twilight saga.

  3. What was crappy about this past year?
A good few things, a handful of people, but hey, their loss.

  4. What are some of your New Years resolutions?
To be happy. To be active at church. To actually attempt to work out.

  5. What was your favorite movie this year?
Coraline, Mall Cop, Adventureland, Monsters Vs Aliens, UP, Land of the Lost, The Ugly Truth, New Moon, and the list goes on.

  6. What was your favorite song this year?
I generally have favorite CDs instead of songs, and this past year it was the soundtrack to Once

  7. Who did you hang out with the most?
Eh, my family? Every few months it would be a different friend, no one person in particular.

  8. Who didn't you get to hang with as much?
My mom, if only she lived closer.... *cough* Move to Utah! *cough*

  9. Did you get married this year?
    Nuuu

  10. Did you pop out any babies?
    Certainly not

  11. What was really fun for you this past year?
This past summer, Sophie and I spent most of our days at the duckie park out in Layton. I loved seeing her so excited.

  12. Did you kiss anyone when the ball dropped?
I'm fairly certain that Denny woke me up with a kiss, and I growled at him because his beard was prickly. Ah true love.

  13. Did you make any new friends this past year?
A few, mostly just got back in touch with old friends.

  14. Did you have a job this past year?
Several, yay for being a nanny. Including my job as a SAHM, yes, being a mother is a job. If you don't believe that, obviously you aren't a mother (or you are a crap mother). So suck it!

  15. What is some of the big news that happened this year (that you remember)?
I remember nothing "news" worthy. I don't watch the news, it's depressing.

  16. What show was your favorite this past year?
    Grey's Anatomy :)

  17. Any special sayings you loved this past year?
Nope. We do often quote awesome movies though, that count?

  18. Did anything creep you out this past year?
A few people, but oh well.

  19. How do you plan on starting off this new year?
Happy, strong, and full of life. Watch our world!

The Other Man In My Life

Denny has officially left us around 4:30 this morning. His job is sending him on a 2 week business trip to Tennessee. While he is gone, there would just be Sophie and I here at home.

NOT ANY MORE!

Meet Achilles. You know A-Kill-Ease, from Greek Mythology. If not, you are a loser, look it up.
A man on FreeCycle was giving away a whole litter of them. His daughters dog got knocked up by the neighter's dog and they didn't want the puppies. His mom is a pure Australian Shepherd (think Lacy Lassie... Lord knows why I put Lacy) and his dad is a black lab.
Australian shepherds are super smart, so at least he shouldn't be too much of a pain to housebreak. I heart him. :)

RAWR!

While I was sitting on the couch last night, I was sketching out my ideas for the Quiet Book I want to make Sophie. Next to me, Sophie and Denny are hiding under a blanket.
*all whispers*
Denny - Shhh Shhh Shhh
Sophie - Shhh
Denny - Are you ready?
Sophie - mmhmm
Denny - ok....
*they fling the blanket off of them*
Both - RAWR!
That's right. Lions live on my couch.
It's ridiculous just how many times they can do this and still find it amusing.

Sophie's Birthday Party

Sophie's birthday was super fun. I decorated the house with blue and yellow (for Spongebob). Grandma and Grandpa Meakin, Papa and Mama, Dad and Isaak, Tina and Wes and Melisa, and Claire and Dea were our beloved guests.

I made Sophie's birthday bow, her shirt that has a big 2 and 5 little stars on it, and her cake. The cake was a complete pain in my butt. Isaak was nice enough to help with the labor of making the fondant. The cake had a chocolate and french vanilla layer, and was covered in blue and yellow marshmallow fondant. I was proud of my awesome cake.

While we sang to Sophie, she was super shy. She covered her face and peaked out through her fingers at everyone. We enjoyed the cake, then moved into the front room for gifts.

Denny and I got her a Dora sofa, Blue's Clues DVD, Dr Seuss book, Spongebob books, and a little fish tank with accessories.

Dad got her some really cute clothes, and Isaak got her some Dora dominoes.

Grandma and Grandpa brought the traditional $5 bill.

Tina got her a little wooden baby doll crib, plus a baby doll. Sophie has climbed into the crib several times, and it has yet to break. Sophie has nicer things than I do. :P

Claire got her the cutest little dress, Sophie will definitely be wearing that to church this week.

While gifts are awesome, I'm just glad we could have people to celebrate with. We miss our family that couldn't be there, so we cherish the family that is close by.

Here is the album with the rest of the pictures. I'll try to chop up the 30 minutes of birthday video and get it up loaded soon.

Sophie's 2nd Birthday Album

It's Gone

After Sophie's birthday party on Saturday, she settled down for a nap. While she napped, I went to get all of my hair chopped of. I had Isaak take pictures of my hair before and after (so ignore the squishy faces I made, he gives no 1.2.3 warning).
The last picture with my long hair. I guess I miss having it long, I love long hair. I just had no time to actually do anything with it.
Isaak took the picture the instant we got in the car. With it being dark outside it's hard to actually see how short it is. I'll have to take a picture with it actually done. I straightened it for church on Sunday and was rather pleased. Plus it still fits into a super tiny ponytail! WIN!
