Touché

Somehow I was blessed with a child, who has manners. It must be my reward for putting up with years of sleep deprivation.

A few examples in her vocabulary:
  • Please
  • Thank you
  • Sorry
  • (you're) Welcome
  • No thanks
  • (you) Okay?
  • (you) Alright?
It just amazes people that a toddler can be so polite. I love it.

When Sophie gets a hold of something she shouldn't have like my camera, scissors, or even once a steak knife, (Ya that one scared the Hell out of me. Apparently she can reach into our silverware drawer. The knives have since been moved) I ask her to share with me.

98% of the time, she hands over whatever it is. I figure this is more effective than trying to rip said objects out of her tiny hands, thus causing a tantrum. It works wonders.

Last night I was recording Sophie with my camera. The following conversation took place.

Sophie - Cheese mom. *reaching for the camera*
Me - No Sophie. It's all done.
Sophie - Please mom? *on her tippie toes*
Me - No.
Sophie - Mom PLEASE?! *pulling on my pants, in an effort to climb me*
Me - No. You don't need to play with this. *I start walking to the table to set down the camera*
Sophie - Mom
Me - What?
Sophie - Share?

Touché Sophie, Touché.

*slept all night*

Wake Up - 9:30

Like I said above, it just can't be this easy.

Papa y Mama

(Picture taken by my super talented older brother. I lack pictures of my grandparents, so I had to resort to stealing my brother's.)

My grandparents are coming to visit next week. I'm so excited I could pee my pants! These are some of my absolute favorite people. The best part? They are not visiting for days, or even weeks, but months... MONTHS!

When we lived in Texas, we saw my family in Mexico all the time. Then we moved and visits became rare. The last time I saw my grandparents was literally years ago. I'm pretty sure it's when I was a nut, so 4 or 5 years ago. I wanted to go down last year, but we just lacked the money. I'll have to be sure to save up for a trip this coming year.

Papa is like a magnet, people are just drawn to him. He is nearly always smiling. I love to listen to him sing and play the guitar. When I was little he would show me magic tricks that would just blow my mind. Ok fine, I still think it's awesome. I'm so excited for Sophie to meet him.

Mama is so sweet. After having 12 kids, you'd bet that woman is pro with kids. She loves her kids and oodles of grandkids so much. She's such a blast.

I can't wait to take them out to do stuff. These next few months are going to be full of awesome.

Mary, Did You Know?

The above video was stolen from my sister-in-law's blog. I love this song, and have for years. The first time I heard it, I was 13. We were at our ward Christmas part/talent show. I can't remember his name, but my teacher sang the song. He had an amazing voice, and about halfway through the song, he started to cry.

You can never really "connect" with Mary, until you have a child. You can take class after class about being a parent, read all the books in the world, and even watch after children; but until you have your own child, you have no idea how that bond feels. To be willing to give anything and everything to keep your child safe. To be ready to give everything you have for them, even your life if necessary.

My mom used to always tell me "You'll understand when you are a mom." She normally told me those words when I was angry with her. She was right. I would do everything I could to keep Sophie from harm, even if that meant her hating me. Granted, she will have to learn things on her own, but I'll be damned if I'm not right there to pick her back up and brush her off.

Thank you mom, for everything.

Wish List

Now I personally think it is a complete pain in the ass trying to figure out what people want. Will they use it? Is it in their size? What is their favorite color? So on and so forth. Instead of having to hunt down individual people, I wish they would just give me a giant list each year.

That being said, I am taking it upon myself to post our family wish list.

Sophie

Basic
s
Colors - The colors she seams to like best right now are blue and green.
Sizes - She is currently in size 18 month clothes. 24 months are going to be needed before winter ends. Her shoe size is 5.
Specifics
Baby Dolls - she's really into the whole mommy baby thing right now. Any little accessories would probably please her.
Lights - Anything that lights up would amaze her. Every time we leave the house, she oooos and aaaahs over the Christmas lights.
Snow Gear - She is in love with snow, but lacks the appropriate apparel to play in it. So I play bad guy and drag her inside to the warmth.
Spongebob - ANYTHING with a Spongebob theme. She watches it every day, and thinks he is just downright awesome. Dora the Explorer would also be loved.
Don't Need
Somebody already got her PJs, a play kitchen + food, baby stroller.

Denny

Basic
Colors - Black , dark green.
Sizes - XL
Specifics
Best Buy - Things he wants are mostly nerd related (I.E. $80 portable hard drive, $100+ Windows 7, and so on) I'm thinking money would be his main goal, but if you are like me - money isn't "personal." So a gift card would be good for him.
That's really all I got... here are a list of places I can think he'd use a gift card from: Best Buy, Olive Garden, Game Stop, (electronic/game stores).

Lexi

Basic
Colors - Red, Green, Purple, Black, I pretty much love the whole rainbow.
Sizes - Bottoms size 5, Tops Small or Medium
Specifics
Crafts - Anything from some paints to some fabric. I love all crafts.

Sidenote - If you do give money, you won't be frowned upon. :) Most of our family that has already given us gifts, gave us money. It helped out amazingly. Being "poor" is a pain in the butt, and its nice to go out to movies or Olive Garden once in a while. Thank you to those of you who already gave us the money for Christmas. You have no idea how much you helped.

Also, this isn't me asking for gifts. This is just a list to help out those family/friends who are already getting us things, but need a bit of help with ideas. I mean we aren't rich, but come on, we aren't that bad. :P
